Position Overview:
A Rework and Test Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, sorting, troubleshooting or sampling assembled parts or printed circuit boards for defects, compliance to and/or deviations from specifications. They may use precision measuring instruments, education/training/experience and complex test equipment to assure product compliance. They assemble or modify electrical or electronic equipment and troubleshoot nonconforming products.
Responsibilities Include:
- Reading and understanding customer notes, drawings, bills of material and work instructions and processes.
- Using/operating precision test/measuring tools or equipment (i.e. scopes, signal generators, ohmmeter, calipers, etc.)
- Reading and understanding values of components.
- Ensuring test equipment used for verification or calibrating designated product has a current calibration sticker
- Examining products or work to verify conformance to specifications
- Fabricating, assembling or disassembling manufactured products by hand and/or tools
- Documenting and properly identifying rejected products, materials, components and equipment not meeting specifications.
- Marking items with details such as acceptance or rejection status
- Marking and tagging components so that stock inventory can be tracked and identified.
- Reading dials and meters to verify that equipment/product is functioning at specified levels.
- Writing test and inspection reports describing results, recommendations and needed repairs.
- Setting controls, starting and monitoring machines that automatically measure, sort or inspect products.
- Comparing findings with specifications to ensure conformance to standards
- Investigating the cause of any non-compliance by checking the job folder for current documentation and adequate work instructions
- Notifying supervisors and other personnel of production problems, assisting in identifying problems and correcting these problems.
- Reporting any situations that may contribute to a quality or safety problem
- Discussing test results with supervisors and recommending necessary corrective actions.
- Adjusting, repairing, or replacing electrical or electronic component parts to correct defects and to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Analyzing and interpreting blueprints, data, manuals and other materials to determine specifications, testing procedures and measuring instruments required.
- Conferring with engineering, technical, or manufacturing personnel
- Soldering electrical or electronic connections or components
- Selecting the appropriate solder and flux to meet specifications.
Qualifications Profile:
- Professional demeanor and appearance while working within an ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 environment
- Detail oriented and possess excellent organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work constructively with individuals at all levels of responsibility
- Basic computer skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience with, or ability to quickly learn collaboration tools such as SharePoint
Education and Experience:
- An Associates of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Test and troubleshooting experience and/or willingness to learn the position
- Familiar with measuring instruments and devices
- Familiar with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 requirements
- Previous experience working in an electronic manufacturing environment is desired but not required
