Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Sanitation Technician to help maintain food safety and sanitation standards at our Mission Produce Distribution Center. This role is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing both food contact and non-food contact surfaces to support a safe and hygienic work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Follow all Mission Produce sanitation procedures and food safety standards
Clean and maintain the facility’s buildings, equipment, and grounds
Perform deep cleaning tasks including sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, scraping, and using squeegees or compressed air
Clean walls, doors, and surfaces using appropriate tools such as scrub brushes, pressure washers, and hand towels
Maintain accurate and up-to-date sanitation logs and documentation
Read, understand, and safely handle chemical cleaning agents
Report safety or maintenance concerns to supervisors in a timely manner
Perform additional duties as assigned to support sanitation and safety operations
Working Conditions:
Must be able to work in a cold, wet, temperature-controlled environment (34°F to 42°F)
Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and cleaning equipment
Must be physically capable of standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching as needed
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or at least 2 years of relevant sanitation experience
Flexible schedule and ability to work varying shifts as needed
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish
Preferred: Experience with forklift or scissor lift equipment
