$28/ph (pay based on experience)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Manual Lathe Machinist to machine large parts to precise specifications using manual lathes and VTLs. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly skilled in blueprint reading, precision measurement, and manual machining practices while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine large parts using manual lathes and vertical turret lathes (VTLs)
- Perform OD and ID machining on various types of steel and bronze
- Perform single-point threading
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and sample parts
- Monitor and adjust machine speeds, feeds, depth of cuts, and material rotation
- Measure, inspect, and verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and scales
- Adjust equipment to correct out-of-tolerance conditions
- Identify and report equipment issues or malfunctions to supervisors
- Safely operate overhead cranes
- Adapt to changing priorities and production needs
- Follow all safety, health, and safe working practices
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Manual Lathe Machinist
- Strong knowledge of machining large parts on manual lathes and/or VTLs
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience using precision measuring tools
- Must supply own machinist tools
- Ability to work independently and stay self-motivated
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally lift up to 100 lbs with assistance
- Frequently lift, carry, and manipulate up to 50 lbs
- Frequent bending and kneeling
- Occasional climbing on up to 12-foot ladders and scaffolding
- Work in an environment with fumes, odors, dust, and elevated noise levels, with appropriate PPE
